Birds

John has worked hard to attract certain birds to the property and with a little help from the owner of Wild Bird's Unlimited he was successful in inviting bluebirds to nest!  I don't know a thing about
bluebirds and have never seen them before this Spring so it is a real treat.  It was a bit of a battle to keep the sparrows out as we had to evict them as they started building their eclectic nests, much different then the pine needle nests that the bluebirds make.

Male bluebird checking out the view.  He actually chose one a little further back leaving this one to the sparrows.

Ah!  Success.  We hope they all hatch.

Since we have a plethora of dog hair at the kennel we share with the other birds.  I was thrilled to see the chickadees being so 'green.'  This nest box is right outside our bedroom window.

Maureen, an excellent source of bird houses and feeders is Wildlife's Choice in Pleasant Hill, OH. Jeff makes all the boxes himself using heavy cedar boards and all stainless steel hardware. We sell his products here at the conservation office.
